Free Twitter Backgrounds

I made a few Twitter Backgrounds tonight for fun. I went ahead and grabbed a bunch of free  stock images from Stock Xchng. They have a lot of nice images, but be sure to click the image and get the largest one possible.

Feel free to download them (get the largest image available from Flickr) and use as your background. Open Twitter and click "Settings". Click "Design" and then click the check box "Use Image as Background". Click the "Choose" button and find your downloaded background. Click "Save" and go back to your home page. Your new background should be visible now.

Twitter Background Tutorial

I have created a Tutorial for creating a background image to use as your Twitter home pge. Most Twitter Backgrounds are tiled and most of the image is hidden. By using a smaller image and placing it on either side of the text boxes you can see the images clearly. If you have any ideas from improvement please let me know.

Interesting Person This Week

When I see something interesting or something I like I will give a quick mention. The Dot Art Blog is interesting to not only look at but to read. I am not an artist (closest I come is painting figures) and throughly enjoy when I see someone passionate about his craft. Look, read and enjoy.

A Tale of Two Googles

I frequent a couple of boards and I have noticed a nasty little habit some people have when people ask for help and can't find something on the internet. The nasty bit comes in the form of a common answer from many- "Google It".
People who ask for help searching for information on the net have probably already heard of Google and chances are they have tried to find the answer before you blurted out your answer of "Google It". In fact, the dreaded "Google It" is used more as an insult then an answer. This simple phrase is the internet equivalent of the middle finger when someone cuts you off on the freeway. I would venture to say that they have already searched on Google and maybe other search engines and did not get the response they were looking for. Many times the placement of a single word in the Google bar will lead to different answers.
I will give an example. I needed to find a guide I had seen for a MMORPG and could not find it. It was a free guide and I used 3 words - Level+Guide+World of Warcraft. I got plenty of Pay guides but no free guides. When I asked if anyone remembered the site we used to used I was assaulted by the "Google It" middle finger. Luckily another fine chap found it and even posted his search string -Leveling+guide+World of Warcraft. Three little letters earned me a big FU from another person and a rise in blood pressure.
In the future I ask that you don't give the  Google finger, but help people find the information they seek. It would also be helpful if you actually give the search string so people on the boards can learn from your Google-Fu. One day you may be searching for the magic word to find the important information you need.

Is that a projection TV in your pocket?

Projection Phones are coming to a shirt pocket near you.

Soon a cell phone that can project a video image on any surface. Microvision has developed an embedded projection device into a call phone. In a statement released on Micorvision's website they stated the following,
"Microvision stated that PicoP-enabled devices can project a widescreen, WVGA (848 X 480 pixels), DVD-quality image" . The news continues to wax about how it works in many light situations and is an "always in focus" technology. No release date has been specified but rumors say that a consumer phone may be available late 2009.

I for one love anything that delays my inevitable Laser Eye Surgery. This technology will also lead to countless mug shots of people on TheSmokingGun.com who thought it was a great idea to show that new porn clip in the mens bathroom.
